Makena is a Kikuyu of Kenya name meaning "the happy one."
A gorgeous Sudanese pendant combines with Jasper in this ravishing necklace.
The Sudanese pendant is made from recycled camel bone and is inlaid with a beautiful copper and brass wire design. It displays the incredibly intricate craftsmanship of local artisans in South Sudan using methods that are passed down from generation to generation. It is one of many examples of the remarkably beautiful adornment that originates from this region. It is anchored by a strand of lustrous red jasper beads, a color reminiscent of rich terra-cotta clay.
Historically, Jasper was worn by shamans, priests, and kings as it was considered sacred and powerful, both physically and spiritually. This is a radiant and versatile necklace that will look dazzling anytime of the day and certainly turn heads your way!
The components are personally sourced by Shikha during her travels around the world and this statement necklace is assembled in her studio.
