Indian Wedding Sash
From the Kutch area of Gujarat, India, the bride's family brings their finest embroidery to a piece of hand-spun cloth. The groom's family the same. Similar designs, but different in execution. Then the two are brought together and, during the festivities of a wedding, sewn into one piece. It reminds me of the stole a priest may wrap around a bridal couple's hands, with a blessing and a prayer of hope.
This piece Susan found in Rajasthan, India, museum-quality and rare, and brought it home, thinking it a gorgeous gift for a very lucky couple on their wedding day.
