Hayley is a name derived from the Old English elements heg “hay” and leah “field or meadow”, hence the meaning “hay field.”
The pendant in this fabulous necklace is an ear expander from South Sudan; it is decorated with a striking pattern produced by inlaid brass. Multiple strands of Yellow Agate secure the pendant. These link onto two statement brass rings made in Ghana. Four strands of Dalmatian Jasper anchor the brass rings from above and complete this wonderful necklace. The tiny brass beads are called heishi (discs). They are coiled and cut by Kenyan artisans and enhance the opulence of this necklace.
Yellow Agate is said to help increase inner vision and introspection, while dissolving tension and strengthening rational thought. Dalmatian Jasper is believed to alleviate disillusionment, help one see their strengths and weaknesses, and encourage grounding. This allows you to move forward in life and discover your true purpose for being here. Its energy brings a sense of playfulness into life.
The striking West African brass rings are made using an ancient technique known as the “lost wax method” of casting that originated in Africa millennia ago. It results in each bead being completely unique in contrast to modern mass-produced casting methods.
The components are personally sourced by Shikha during her travels around the world and this statement necklace is assembled in her studio.
