#Ageless Style With Heart
Actor, stylist, animal activist and style icon, 79-year-old Ali MacGraw has a new style gig with Ibu (pronounced ee-boo), a fashion collective/movement based in Charleston, USA.
As described on the website, the Ibu Movement is “a movement of women around the world growing into economic self-sufficiency through the art of their hands. Working with 71 artisan groups, in 34 countries, Ibu celebrates the imagination and skill of women and puts money in their hands”.
MacGraw and Ibu’s founder Susan Hull Walker became acquainted at a chance meeting in MacGraw’s hometown of Santa Fe. A great admirer of MacGraw’s legendary bohemian style, Hull Walker eventually plucked up the courage to ask the style icon to become an Ibu Ambassador. Happily MacGraw accepted and in fact works for Ibu for gratis.
The Ibu + Ali MacGraw capsule collection includes Kenya-made striped Duka pants, Moroccan silver jewellery, leather mules covered in West African indigo cloth, and Ghanaian glass beads hand-strung in Nagaland.
Of the collobration MacGraw said “This is a magical project which is changing womens lives all over the world. From Susan, all the way through Ibu, it is all about ‘heart’. I love everything about it and I am honoured to be a part of it”.
