WE ARE IBU IN ACTION:
MIA asked the Ibu Foundation to help build a workspace so that the artisans would have a place to hold training sessions, package orders, and oversee quality control of all goods.
Mothers In Action (MIA) was started in 2007 with only 12 mothers, but now has more than 250 women from different communities across the Peruvian Andes. The women currently knit from their homes while looking after their children. The MIA knitters are represented by women leaders chosen by the community. The artisans are highly skilled thanks to MIA’s workshops that teach high standards production standards for their collections. MIA’s mission is to produce beautifully-designed products, creating more groups of mothers that are able to work from home, while providing a better standard of living for their entire family.
